4142 Alloy Steel Round Bar
4142 Alloy Steel Round Bar
4142 Steel is a high-quality medium-carbon alloy structural steel that has been quenched and tempered.4142 Alloy Steel is a grade of steel that should be annealed to coarse pearlite to coarse spheroidite structure for maximum machinability. Prior to air cooling, the steel should be austenitized at 1550oF and cooled to 1390oF at 25oF or 14oF per hour, or alternately cooled to 1250oF and held for 5 hours for an iso-anneal. Simultaneously, this can be normalized at 1600°F (870°C) and then cooled by air.
