Meet Andrew
I was lucky enough to get to go back to ConEXPO for a second time with ConEquip! This time around, I went in a bit more prepared, but still came back just as sore. If you plan to go to ConExpo, MineXPO, or any other large convention in Las Vegas, here are some tips for you.

1. Take cards with you, even if you aren’t the one someone would normally talk to. If you have representatives that could better assist someone, take their cards. If you are the best person to talk to, you should absolutely have cards to hand out so that the connections you make while you’re attending the show have a way to follow up.
2. Plan ahead for getting to and from the show. At least for ConExpo, there are lots of people attending, and lots of hotels in the vicinity of the convention center. Everyone sort of has the same schedules, and decides to leave around the same time. This means that trying to get a car, whether it be Uber, Lyft or a regular taxi, is very difficult around 4 PM Vegas time. Plan ahead, and either leave a bit early, or stay a bit late. There are also shuttles that are provided by the expo that go to many of the hotels in the area, so see if you can save some money by taking one of those!
3. Think about skin hydration. Very similarly to my last set of tips by bringing chapstick, Vegas is in a desert. You will wake up with dry skin, and it is not pleasant to have a dry and cracking face while trying to network with people in the industry.
4. Standing for long periods of time is the killer of all knees and hips. I found that by walking or at least moving around, my knees and hips were in a lot less pain. In my job position, I am standing still to capture video or photos of people or machines, and I found my lower body in a lot of pain at the end of the day. Stretching in the morning and before you go to bed is also probably a great idea.
5. There is food at the expo center, and it’s not half bad! If you don’t want to try and leave the LVCC, there are cafes in every hall, and a lot of the parking lot exhibitions have food trucks serving the area. The cafes inside are smart and speedy, where you just grab items you want, and pay for it all at once instead of waiting for your order and paying there. Try them out!
If you have more tips, reach out! Let us know what you saw, what you thought of the show, or tips that should be shared by dropping me a line at [email protected].
See you in 3 years!
