Meet the New Large Wheel Loaders

Bobcat’s newest additions to their large wheel loader machines, the L205, L235, L255, and L285, are built for a variety of jobs, including construction jobs, agricultural projects, or heavy-duty material handling.

Engines With Versatility in Mind

While Bobcat is classifying these machines as large wheel loaders, they sit somewhere between compact wheel loaders and large wheel loaders in terms of power and size. These models range from 142 horsepower to 189 horsepower, which is more when compared to CASE’s 21F line, which range from 58 to 112 horsepower.

To remain versatile and to help match performance to the job, these new loaders come standard with three transmission modes:

  • Manual mode–Great for precise speed control
  • Auto 1-4–Automatically shifts based on power and torque demands
  • Auto 2-4– Ideal for lighter-duty work, with automatic shifting between gears 2–4

In addition, operators can also switch between three power modes:

  • Power mode for max output
  • Normal mode for daily tasks
  • Economy mode to cut down on fuel use

This combination of power and transmissions modes allows operators to customize the power level to the job at hand. For more demanding jobs with heavier loads, operators can utilize Bobcat’s combination of Auto 1-4 transmission mode and power mode, while lighter work can utilize the Auto 2-4 transmission mode and economy mode to reduce fuel cost and increase job margin.

Made For Strength

These wheel loaders are designed to handle high-volume tasks with a range of bucket sizes up to 3.5 cubic yards of volume on the L255 and L285, with the L205 and L235 at 2.5 and 3 cubic yards respectively. Capacity on lighter materials range up to 5 cubic yards. Similar models like the CAT 920 have a 2.5 cubic yards for general material loads with a capacity of 4.6 cubic yards for lighter materials.

New Large Excavators: E220 & E245

In addition to the new Large Wheel Loaders, Bobcat has introduced the E220 and E245; new heavy-duty excavators built for both power and precision in a variety of circumstances.

Engines Made to Last

Both models are powered by Tier 4 engines—so maintenance is much simpler, and downtime is reduced from other models. What makes these engines simpler is their lack of a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), which still meets environmental standards set forth by the EPA. The lack of this filter decreases the amount of daily downtime machines experience and reduces the repair time on these machines’ engines. The Smart Power Control feature helps automatically match power output to hydraulic demand, improving fuel economy and performance across all modes.

These machines have four power modes to match the job’s demands:

  • Power+: Maximum speed and digging force
  • Power: Great for tough digging and lifting
  • Standard: Balanced performance and fuel efficiency
  • Economy: Best for precise digging and conserving fuel

Made for Precision

A key feature of these new excavators is their Fine Swing Feature, which allows for a smooth gradual stop and prevents material spill from the bucket.
